NRC serves with a response team consisting of highly trained and experienced personnel ready to respond to incidents that may occur on land and at sea at any time.
In the context of the OPRC Convention (1990) and the OPRC-HNS Protocol (2000) issued by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in order to prevent environmental disasters and material damages caused by ship accidents and to protect the environment and especially the marine environment, the prevention of pollution caused by oil and other harmful substances from ships and effective response to spills are targeted.
In this context, the Law No. 5312 on the Principles of Emergency Response and Compensation of Damages in the Pollution of the Marine Environment by Oil and Other Harmful Substances was published in the Official Gazette dated 11.03.2005 and numbered 25752.
NRC is authorized as an emergency response service provider under the "Law No. 5312 on the Principles of Emergency Response and Compensation of Damages in the Pollution of the Marine Environment by Oil and Other Harmful Substances" and related legislation.
The NRC routinely provides oil spill response, training, consulting, and prepares emergency response plans and drills nationwide, including at shipyards, onshore facilities and refineries, etc.
